Who can Claim ?
Income Support is paid to people who are on low income and not claiming unemployment benefits. To check if you are entitled to Income Support and to discuss your personal situation call the income support number 0843 506 9853

You may be entitled for income support if your income is low, and you are working 16 hours a week or less and if you have NOT signed on as unemployed.
There are specific conditions that need to be met in able to qualify for income support, and the amount you may be entitled to will vary and is based you’re your personal circumstances. If you are eligible and are unemployed you could receive £56.80 per week.
You can also claim for Child Tax Credit if you are receiving Income Support and have children.
What you’ll receive
You will receive a simple payment (personal allowance) and will receive extras on top of this amount (premiums). Premiums can vary between £15.15 and £119, which can depend upon your individual condition. Any savings you have or earnings over £5,999 may affect the amount you receive. All money is paid to you usually within 2 weeks providing you have the necessary evidence required. Allowances are usually paid via an account, for example a bank account.
You are eligible for income support if you meet the following :-
- You are between the ages of 16 and the pension credit qualifying age.
- You are not able to work as you are disabled or ill.
- You are a carer
- You are a single parent with a child under 5 years old.
- You are pregnant
- Your incomings are low
- Your partner works less than 24 hours in the week
- You work less than 16 hours a week
- You live in England, Scotland or Wales
You can claim income support if you do not live in a fixed address. If you are homeless or stay in hostels or homes you can still apply.
If you do any volunteering or are on leave from work (parental leave, paternity leave) you could still qualify.
If you are 21 years old or below you can apply if you are orphaned or divided from parents and in full time education.
You may not be able to receive income support if any of the following apply:-
You need authorisation to be in the UK; if you are an adolescent person being looked after by the authorities; if you have funds above £16,000; and if you are already receiving Job Seekers Support or any other kind of support payment. How to apply for INCOME SUPPORT
You can make your application for Income Support Benefit by phone or by post.
You can claim Income Support for you and your companion providing they have not already made a claim. You may have to provide proof of your income and your companion’s income. You will also be asked to provide household information including where you live and who lives in the home with you.
